The Peugeot i-Cockpit of the new Peugeot 308

From Type 1 from 1889 to the new Peugeot 308 from 2021, the Peugeot brand has been at the forefront of technological developments for 132 years. Today electronics and software determine the most important innovations. The latest examples are:

  • The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit.
  • The newest driving aids.
  • The ecosystem of electrified models.
  • Remote updates of the vehicle software ("over the air").

All of these technologies are available in the new PEUGEOT 308.

In its existence, PEUGEOT has gone through all kinds of changes: industrial, technological, political, social, and now also digital.

The new digital revolution that began in the 2000s is happening faster and faster. PEUGEOT has taken this development into account and has introduced innovations in a field that is no longer mechanical but digital.

The new Peugeot 308, launched in October 2021, offers its customers first-class innovations, starting with the new Peugeot i-Cockpit. This is developing further in terms of its ergonomics, its design, the quality of its materials and workmanship, and its technology with a completely new digital user interface. The Peugeot i-Cockpit® (compact steering wheel, instrument cluster at eye level, central touchscreen, ergonomics, and carefully developed interior materials) is part of the DNA of the Löwen brand. It is revised and modernized with every generation, making driving and travel even more enjoyable.

The Peugeot i-Cockpit of the new Peugeot 308 now has i-Connect Advanced, an intuitive, networked, and consistently modern infotainment system.

The digital instrument cluster is at eye level and has a 10-inch digital display (25.4 cm) from the Active Pack level. In the GT equipment variant, the instrument cluster is available in 3D. The digital instrument cluster is entirely customizable and has several display modes (TomTom 3D real-time navigation, radio/media, driving aids, energy consumption) that can be set directly via the instrument cluster.

From the Allure level, the new Peugeot 308 is equipped with virtual, fully configurable i-toggles, which are arranged below the central screen and offer a look and a technological level unique in this segment.

Each i-toggle is a touch-sensitive hotkey for user-defined function settings: air conditioning, telephone contact, radio station, application start.

Onboard the new Peugeot 308, the latest generation of driver assistance systems, complete the range of vehicle technologies that are at the forefront of the industry. The result is an ever-higher level of security, combined with further improved ease of use.

Another step towards semi-autonomous driving is being taken with the Drive Assist 2.0 package. It consists of the adaptive cruise control with STOP & GO function (in connection with the EAT8 automatic transmission) and the lane departure warning system. In addition, there are three new functions that will be available on lanes with separate lanes:

  • Semi-automatic lane change: the system suggests that the driver overtakes the vehicle in front and changes the lane again, from 70 km / h to 180 km / h.
  • Anticipated speed recommendation: the system suggests the driver adjust their speed (acceleration or deceleration) according to the speed limit signs.
  • Cornering speed adjustment: optimizes the speed according to the course of the curve, up to 180 km / h.

For the electrified versions, a completely digital ecosystem:

In order to support customers with the technological transition to electromobility, Peugeot offers a range of services based on several pillars. These are available to all users of the brand's electrified models - including, of course, the plug-in hybrids of the new PEUGEOT 308. The result is more serenity for more pleasure.

Easy-Charge facilitates access to the various charging solutions:

  • They offer charging solutions for the home or office via a wide range of devices (reinforced socket, wall box, smart wall box).
  • A public charging offer via Free2Move Services enables access to a network of over 220,000 charging stations in Europe: preselect stations according to distance, speed, and price.

Easy-Care accompanies customers when they get started with electromobility and offers serenity with service and resale:

  • New simulators and digital routes on the PEUGEOT website help to understand electromobility virtually.
  • Customized service and breakdown assistance.
  • A certificate of battery capacity at the time of inspection to facilitate second-hand sales of the vehicle by guaranteeing the vehicle battery capacity level.
  • The battery guarantees eight years or 160,000 kilometers for 70 percent of its charge capacity.

Using the MyPEUGEOT smartphone app or the central screen, drivers can:

  • Start or plan thermal preconditioning, more than just comfort when the vehicle is plugged in. This function enables the user to optimize the range (faster convergence of the temperature setpoint during the start-up phases) and reach the optimal operating temperature of the battery more quickly.
  • Check, plan, start or delay the charging process of the battery.

Depending on the country, customers can use the "selling online" website to buy their new vehicle and finance it using a smartphone, tablet, or PC.

The new, 100 percent digital update process used in the new Peugeot 308 enables an operating system to be downloaded ("over the air") or installed using a software package. As a result, improvements, upgrades, and corrections to the onboard programs can be carried out without customers driving to the dealership for updates that improve the vehicle's operation.

New applications such as navigation, parking, rental, and many others can also be selected and installed: the vehicle improves its performance without affecting the customer's schedule.

Peugeot is at the forefront of digital development. Peugeot's new generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit and the development of over-the-air applications to driver aids and networked services creates the connection for its customers to a safer, quieter, and more attractive future. @via Peugeot and EV stories.
