The petrol engines are all based on the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces different power outputs: 99 hp (74 kW), 128 hp (96 kW), or 153 hp (114 kW). The diesel engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit that delivers 99 hp (74 kW). The electric motor is powered by a 50 kWh battery pack that generates 134 hp (100 kW) and provides a range of up to 206 miles (332 km) on the WLTP cycle.

The Peugeot 2008 can be equipped with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engines can achieve fuel consumption figures of between 45 mpg (5.2 l/100 km) and 53 mpg (4.4 l/100 km), while the diesel engine can achieve 67 mpg (3.5 l/100 km). The electric motor can be recharged to 80% in 30 minutes using a fast charger.

The Peugeot 2008 offers agile handling and responsive steering, making driving fun on various road conditions. It also has four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow, that adjust the engine, transmission, and traction settings according to the driver's preference.

A Competitive and Affordable Pricing

The Peugeot 2008 is priced from $25k (€21k) for the base Active trim level and goes up to $36k (€30k) for the top-of-the-range GT trim level. The electric e-2008 is priced from $38k (€32k) for the Active trim level and goes up to $47k (€39k) for the GT trim level. These prices include a government grant of $1.7k (€1.5k) for electric vehicles.

The Peugeot 2008 faces stiff competition from other subcompact crossover SUVs in the European market, such as the Ford Puma, the Hyundai Kona, the Volvo XC40, and the VW T-Roc. The 2008 stands out with its distinctive design, high-tech interior, and efficient performance, but it also has some drawbacks, such as a firm ride, a high price tag, and a limited availability of some features.
