RAM 1500 Rebel: The Off-Road Truck That Goes Electric

The RAM 1500 Rebel is a full-size, half-ton truck with off-road style and tons of standard features and options. The Rebel trim level was launched in 2015 as a rugged version of the humble Ram 1500, but with more off-roading confidence, thanks to the standard 4X4 layout and electronic rear differential. The Rebel also boasts a unique grille, black accents, LED headlights and taillights, skid plates, tow hooks, and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.

But what if you want a Rebel that is not only capable of tackling any terrain, but also friendly to the environment and your wallet? Well, you’re in luck because RAM has announced the launch of a new engine option for the RAM 1500 Rebel in Europe: the Pentastar V6 eTorque with mild-hybrid technology.

The Pentastar V6 eTorque is a 3.6-liter engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 48-volt belt-driven motor generator, providing up to 90 lb-ft of additional torque. The eTorque system also enables start-stop functionality, regenerative braking, and short-term torque assist, which improve fuel efficiency and performance.

According to RAM, the eTorque system can reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% compared to a conventional engine. It can also improve acceleration by up to 10% from 0 to 60 mph. The eTorque system does not compromise the towing or payload capacity of the Rebel, which are rated at 7,730 lbs and 1,880 lbs, respectively.

The RAM 1500 Rebel with the Pentastar V6 eTorque engine will be available in Europe starting in the first quarter of 2023. It will join the existing engine options for the Rebel in Europe: the HEMI V8 with or without eTorque, and the EcoDiesel V6. The Rebel will also offer a range of features and options to enhance its off-road capability and comfort, such as:

  • Air suspension system that can adjust the ride height by up to four inches
  • Off-road pages that display vehicle information such as pitch, roll, steering angle, transfer case mode, tire pressure, and more
  • Hill descent control that maintains a steady speed on steep downhill slopes
  • Electronic locking rear differential that provides extra traction on slippery surfaces
  • Uconnect infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
  • Harman Kardon premium sound system with 19 speakers and a subwoofer
  • Leather-trimmed seats with Rebel logo embroidery and red stitching
  • Heated front seats and steering wheel
  • Dual-pane panoramic sunroof

The RAM 1500 Rebel with the Pentastar V6 eTorque engine is a great choice for off-road enthusiasts who want a truck that can handle any challenge and for eco-conscious drivers who want to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on gas. The Rebel is part of RAM’s commitment to electrifying its lineup by 2025, including the first-ever Ram electric truck, the Ram 1500 REV.

The RAM 1500 Rebel truck combines style, performance, capability, comfort, and efficiency. It is a truck that goes electric without compromising its essence. It is a truck that rebels against convention and embraces innovation. It is a truck that you should definitely check out if you’re looking for a new adventure on wheels. @via Car Thermostats.
